A rough week or two.

I haven't updated in awhile because honestly I've been just too exhausted.

As I posted last time, about a month ago Mark's family made the decision to put Grandpa Katerberg into Hospice. Just over 2 weeks later he passed away. And even though you know it's coming, nothing prepares you for the finality. He was a special man who I was just getting to know. The week preceding his funeral was beautiful. Late April weather in mid March. I actually wore sandals to the funeral home. However, the morning of the funeral we woke up to snow. A harsh reminder of how hard the day would be. The funeral was a celebration of a man who would help anyone and passed the trait on to his family. And it was evident by the amount of people that attended that he had touched many.

After all the high emotions of that week I had hoped things would settle down. But it was not to be. Last week after feeling pretty lousy for a few weeks, I ended up at the doctor (again!). We figured I was pregnant but had only told a few people because I was pretty early on. We came to find out that I had a miscarriage. I know this is a taboo subject for some, but for me it was helpful to know how many people had been in the same situation. That 20-30% of women have at least 1 miscarriage and go on to have healthy children. That there is HOPE. Mark and I are so thankful for God's hand in our lives and his support thru this whole situation. We believe God has a different plan for our lives right now and are excited to see what it is. I did have minor surgery on Thursday, but am physically well on my way to recovery.

Finally, Mark's brother & sister-in-law moved to Michigan this week. YEAH! Matt accepted a position in Grand Rapids and they made the trek up from Florida this week. We are excited to get to see more of them and to get to know our nephew better.

Tomorrow is Easter. I am ready to go to church and celebrate the amazing gift God has give to us. After the last month, just sitting in God's presence sounds good to me.
